for everyone

This is in response to the article on cnnpolitics.com entitled "Rep. King on Jackson: There's nothing good about this guy" . Read it before proceeding with my blog.

I could have curse this person a million times for saying something like that to a person who have somehow influence me, but rest assured I will try my best to be objective in what I will write here.

First. The person just died. I think that is basis enough for Mr. King to keep his opinion to himself. at least for now. At this point in time, how could he say something like that to a person who just passed away? Like what one of the persons who commented on the article, how much lower can Mr. King go? True, it is highly unlikely that he is the only person who has that kind of opinion. But are those people afraid? Or are they just respecting the fact that he just passed away? With Mr. King publicly saying his comments, it is likely (as evidenced by the comments on the link) that other people will come out to say ill things like that without the feeling of guilt that they are bashing a person who just passed away.

Second. The person was not and was never convicted of child sexual abuse. So Mr. King's statement that he was a 'child molester' is incorrect if we take into account the rulings of the court. By court I might add the two grand juries who tried him in the 2005 case and that they never found him guilty of any charges.

Third. Mr. King's statement that "there's nothing good about Jackson" as we all know, is obviously incorrect. I may not know the actual numbers, but Michael had "donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through foundations, charity singles, and support of charities" (<- from wikipedia) . More than that, he was an inspiration to people with the disease vitiligo by helping increase awareness of the disease, and in doing so help spark research on ways to treat the illness and inspired people with the same illness to try to live a normal life. Also, who can deny the inspiration he was to musicians. Hundreds, probably thousands of them have cited jackson as one of their influence to write their own music. He was an inspiration to a lot of people, whatever color their skin are. My point is that he have done so many good things to people, no matter how directly or indirectly responsible he was with it (<-- I maybe subjective in what I had just written. forgive me)

Mr.King asked the people who have read or listen to his interview "what are we glorifying him for?"

We glorify people not for the wrong that have been committed but for the good that they have done. In the case of Jackson. It was his music. History have already judged him as the most famous entertainer of all time. His albums as the greatest ever made. He is a human, and apart from that, he is an artist. .A musician. .A musician, as Noel Gallagher of the band Oasis have pointed way back in the 90s, should not be judged about his life, about his name, even about his humanitarian or environmental cause, but rather, about his music. Its always about the music that defined a musician, and that is what we are glorifying Michael for.

To sum it up. people who read this blog may disregard all the points that I have discussed, that is except for the first one. He just died. He should at least be given the respect that he deserves right now from everyone, including his detractors.

As I have written earlier, history have already judged him. lets wait in a few years or so if history will take into account the wrongs that critics claimed he had done.

I can only tell one thing. It is for sure that 40 years later, the radio will still play his music, MTV will still play his videos. New forms of entertainment will still bear his music. All the mess he was in will all be forgotten, but his music will continue. Even at this very moment, Thriller have already stand the test of time. Later in your life you will wonder who the hell Mr. King is and if he's even worth writing about. .

(",)wonderwall

(for the record, I agree with him at one point, that the media is putting a lot of attention to Jacksons passing while a lot of people are dying too.)

this was taken during the Jackson's performance at the Michael jackson 30th anniversary concert last 2001. . Nsync performed with the Jacksons on the song "dancing machine". my point is look at Justin's face at about 1:04- 1:06 of this video. He looks amazed though. . .(",)

(I could have written a more dramatic blog about him, but I decided not to publish it. . .)

In the end, maybe he never wanted to grow old. .I never thought he would die. I thought he was immortal. .i was waiting for him to come to the Philippines, now I found out that he will never leave us again.

After June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson officially began to live forever. . .from the bottom of our hearts we will celebrate your life, your fight, and most especially your music that touched virtually everyone of us. .Long Live!

I could have seen the other side
Taking a step into the sky
Ah, I'm always late

I could have done the same routine
Showing the old and golden scene
I'm lying again
To make them go
Wearing again my rocking shoes
Over the puddles made of tears
Flash back
I know you're clever
I remember

I know we could cross over rainbows
I wish that we could aim the sun again
I know we could dream for tomorrow
To share the long forgotten Glamorous Days

I could have done a lot for you
Nothing was left for me to do
Ah, I'm always late
I let you go
You always said it's rock'n roll
Life is a battle, fight and grow
Flash back
I loved your flavour
I remember

I know we could shine like the starlight
I wish that we could aim the sky again
I know we could dream for tomorrow
To share the long forgotten Glamorous Day

I won't be sleeping

Sunday, monday,
Yet another tuesday
Wednesday, thursday, you're still away
Friday, saturday, I'll be lonely everyday
And I'm crying high up to the moon
And I somehow hope to hear you cry

I know I could fight all the troubles
If only I could stay there on your side
I know I should dream on my own now
To chase the long forgotten glorious day

I know we could cross over rainbows
I wish that we could aim the sun again
I know we could dream for tomorrow
To share the long forgotten Glamorous Days.

Glamorous sky...

(I will be putting the song on my profile)

When the numbers in the Philippines grew to about thirty, I began checking th WHO website on a daily basis.100 plus cases in our country. Some of them have already been released from the hospital. It is a good sign that the virus is not evolving. You see, it takes about 5 to six months to develop an antidote against a new virus. And the flu is responding well against antiviral medicines.

Below is an article on the WHO website on what an individual can do to protect himself.

"The main route of transmission of the new influenza A(H1N1) virus seems to be similar to seasonal influenza, via droplets that are expelled by speaking, sneezing or coughing. You can prevent getting infected by avoiding close contact with people who show influenza-like symptoms (trying to maintain a distance of about 1 metre if possible) and taking the following measures:

  • avoid touching your mouth and nose;
  • clean hands thoroughly with soap and water, or cleanse them with an alcohol-based hand rub on a regular basis (especially if touching the mouth and nose, or surfaces that are potentially contaminated);
  • avoid close contact with people who might be ill;
  • reduce the time spent in crowded settings if possible;
  • improve airflow in your living space by opening windows;
  • practise good health habits including adequate sleep, eating nutritious food, and keeping physically active.

What about using a mask? What does WHO recommend?

If you are not sick you do not have to wear a mask.

If you are caring for a sick person, you can wear a mask when you are in close contact with the ill person and dispose of it immediately after contact, and cleanse your hands thoroughly afterwards.

If you are sick and must travel or be around others, cover your mouth and nose.

Using a mask correctly in all situations is essential. Incorrect use actually increases the chance of spreading infection.

How do I know if I have influenza A(H1N1)?

You will not be able to tell the difference between seasonal flu and influenza A(H1N1) without medical help. Typical symptoms to watch for are similar to seasonal viruses and include fever, cough, headache, body aches, sore throat and runny nose. Only your medical practitioner and local health authority can confirm a case of influenza A(H1N1).

What should I do if I think I have the illness?

If you feel unwell, have high fever, cough or sore throat:

  • stay at home and keep away from work, school or crowds;
  • rest and take plenty of fluids;
  • cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and, if using tissues, make sure you dispose of them carefully. Clean your hands immediately after with soap and water or cleanse them with an alcohol-based hand rub;
  • if you do not have a tissue close by when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth as much as possible with the crook of your elbow;
  • use a mask to help you contain the spread of droplets when you are around others, but be sure to do so correctly;
  • inform family and friends about your illness and try to avoid contact with other people;
  • If possible, contact a health professional before traveling to a health facility to discuss whether a medical examination is necessary.

Should I take an antiviral now just in case I catch the new virus?

No. You should only take an antiviral, such as oseltamivir or zanamivir, if your health care provider advises you to do so. Individuals should not buy medicines to prevent or fight this new influenza without a prescription, and they should exercise caution in buying antivirals over the Internet.

What about breastfeeding? Should I stop if I am ill?

No, not unless your health care provider advises it. Studies on other influenza infections show that breastfeeding is most likely protective for babies - it passes on helpful maternal immunities and lowers the risk of respiratory disease. Breastfeeding provides the best overall nutrition for babies and increases their defense factors to fight illness.

When should someone seek medical care?

A person should seek medical care if they experience shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, or if a fever continues more than three days. For parents with a young child who is ill, seek medical care if a child has fast or labored breathing, continuing fever or convulsions (seizures).

Supportive care at home - resting, drinking plenty of fluids and using a pain reliever for aches - is adequate for recovery in most cases. (A non-aspirin pain reliever should be used by children and young adults because of the risk of Reye's syndrome.)

Should I go to work if I have the flu but am feeling OK?

No. Whether you have influenza A(H1N1) or a seasonal influenza, you should stay home and away from work through the duration of your symptoms. This is a precaution that can protect your work colleagues and others.

Can I travel?

If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of influenza, you should not travel. If you have any doubts about your health, you should check with your health care provider.

Jin Kobayashi, perhaps best known for being the author of School Rumble, wrote and illustrated this not so entertaining manga that has a bit of comedy slash supernatural slash romance in it. Serialization of this manga according to wiki started in 2006 and that 5 volumes had already been released in Japan

The story started with a young boy named Yasaka Hajime from Tokyo could be seen walking on the street of a dusty rural town. In there he encountered a 16 year old girl named Arashi. Arashi is, to sum it all up, a beautiful young lady with a long black hair and whose appearance look like someone you watch on a jdorama set in the past. After a series of boring situation chapters I tediously read, Yasaka finally found out that Arashi has been living for six decades now and that she has the ability to travel in time !. And she can only do that if she will travel with Yasaka, only Yasaka, and not anyone else, on her side.

Pretty good plot, but it took Kobayashi Jin about 5 chapters about 30 pages each before revealing the back story. The "summer" on the manga's chapter may only mean that the story took place in a summer, and maybe when that summer is over, so does the story. It is not the same as School Rumble wherein Kobayashi wrote a chapter based on a previous as if there is no planned ending for the story. Natsu no Arashi! may already have a planned ending, but no one knows for sure. For all I know if this manga started to gain popularity (That is, if Kobayashi's fans started to accept the fact that School Rumble is finished, aww..), maybe it will take some time to conclude.

The illustration for the comic closely resembles that of Kobayashi's smash so School Rumble fans will find it familiar in the eyes. The dialogue between characters is also like that though the humor is not on par with School Rumble. I say that School Rumble still is more entertaining than this manga. But there should be no disappointment because School Rumble is built on misunderstandings between the characters, and most of us are entertained by that, Natsu no Arashi ! on the other is not built on that but rather on the mysterious complexities of the character Arashi and why in the world was her face not aging though she is already 6 decades old.

The manga also touches themes about war and sadness.

Maybe it's just me, though Kobayashi's fans might be disappointed with this, Natsu no Arashi! still is a good read. Just painstakingly finished the earlier chapters and you maybe surprised that this manga may be the next gem.

maybe you already knew about this, maybe not. Sorry School Rumble fans. Kobayashi Jin had already finished the school rumble series via Chapter 9 of School Rumble Z. Thats what I heard on the net, I saw some raw scans and stumbled upon a site that contain spoilers on that chapter. But from what I have heard before, it wil be until July, but then news came up that its already finished. I cant wait to see the english- subbed scans so I look at the spoilers and here are some details.

(taken from http://www.cartoonleap.com/2009/05/21/school-rumble-z-manga-ending-shocks-fans/ )

  • Harima attends the graduation with Eri.
  • Akira tells Mikoto she heard Mikoto’s going to live with Hanai
  • Hanai and Mikoto blushes and denies that story, saying they’re just gonna be living rooms next to each other
  • Suga and Sagano are going to live together too.
  • Ichijou talking to Sagano how she’ll still keep in contact with Imadori, even after he moves to Yokohama, while Imadori, Lala, Harry are doing the usual slapsticks on the side.
  • Harry and Max have a conversation about Eri.
  • Looks like Max is going to give up Eri to Harima, and says he’ll kill Harima if he makes her cry.
  • Next is in Max’s mind: Harima and Eri, both grown up, visiting Karasuma at the hospital with their newborn baby.
  • With Tougou’s call, the graduation begins. Hanai is the student rep at the stage. Itoko’s thinks to herself, “farewell, Kenji”
  • Episode ends with Yakumo’s graduation speech to the 3rd graders graduating.
  • Yakumo, after the long (but pretty ordinary send-off speech), starts crying as she ponders the days she spent with the senpais.
  • Tenma appears next to Yakumo, and takes over the stand as the graduating rep.

  • Everyone’s suprised to see her there, then Harima appears from the entrance, pushing Karasuma’s wheelchair.
  • Harima tells Karasuma to look at the stand carefully, that’s the girl me and you both fell in love with. She’s a great gal, isn’t she?
  • MY REACTION:

    since i am a fresh grad longing for my friends in college, the final chapter kind of reminded me of our graduation. aww....

    well for me, if this will end like this then Im fine. I seriously wanted eri and harima to be together in the end. the same with mikoto and hanai, I wanted them to be together.. .

    Its just that Tenma really love Karasuma, and as we all know, Karasuma also feel the same way too. So there should be no way for both of them not to be together in the end. LOL, Im no good in topics like this, but seriously, the ending felt just right. .

    It will be sad that school rumble is over, but Kobayashi stated that he would want to draw about them being adults in the future. That would be fun. or an alternate ending may  be?

    Well, most of you probably know about this already. . The new Full metal alchemist anime will be airing in Japan on April 5 2009. According to another website, AnimaxAsia will be airing it across Asia 6 days after its Japanese premiere. Pretty exciting?

    I have noted about this in an entry of mine in my multiply site and the producers at that time were just on the discussion process. And now it will be airing. It will be entirely based on the manga which is at chapter 90 as of now, compared to the previes FMA anime which had its own plotline towards its end.

    Artist:Rico Blanco
    It has been months since Rico Blanco’s first solo album “Your Universe” have appeared in record stores and has been bought by thousands of his loyal fans and listeners alike. To sum it up this album signals his real “break” with his former band.

    With the exception of “Yugto”, the album composed of songs about love. New found love, love lost, love regained, and confessions; all have that Rico Blanco style of writing that we had seen him doing in the past 1 and a half decades with Rivermaya. These songs, especially the Tagalog ones have that unique lyric poetry that only Rico Blanco could write. And you can’t help falling inlove again and again with his songs. And this songs lack that usual guitar adlib that could have been there if he’s still with his former band, of course the songs don’t need those fancy guitar riffs anymore, Blanco may have made it sure that the songs will not need it.

    Yugto, of course, is the epic song, which has a variety of meaning into it. It can be about the commercialization of his former band, or about betrayal, or love lost, or about this society as whole. This song is nicely done and Rico produced another anthem.

    Notable fact is that some songs on the album have all the credits given to him. For instance the song Antukin:

    Antukin
    Words by Rico Blanco
    Music by Rico Blanco
    Guitar by Rio Blanco
    Bass by Rico Blanco
    Keyboards by Rico Blanco
    Drums by Rico Blanco

    Indeed, this album is a testament to Rico Blanco’s genius not only as a writer but also as a musician. And I highly recommend this to anyone who already loves him and for those who want feel good music at its best!!
